Exercise OBSESSED!

If you’re like me, you love working out, but you also have a life and don’t have hours to spend at the gym! It’s so crazy to hear myself say this now, because not long ago I was the girl who was exercise-obsessed!

I was single, had no kids and my life revolved around working out and eating healthy. . . so much to the point that it was unhealthy (I just didn’t realize it at the time). Back then I was in grad school studying kinesiology, living and breathing everything fitness.  Then I opened my own fitness studio in 2004, so that just added to my life being consumed with exercise!

If you’ve ever been obsessive about exercise, you know that once you’re in the cycle of over-exercising, it’s HARD to get out!  Thoughts of “if I’m exercising this much and look this way, how could I possibly do less?” and “If I cut back on cardio, I’ll probably gain a bunch of weight!” and “If I don’t workout at least 2 hours, I won’t get the results I want!” These are just a few of the crazy thoughts that would run through my head!

I missed out on life! I was so caught up in the vicious cycle and I was afraid to get out!  THEN. . . in 2011, I had my first child.  After having the baby, I still relied heavily on cardio to get my “pre-baby” body back! I wanted to cut back, but still mentally wasn’t there!

In 2013, I had my second child and got a crazy idea to do a fitness competition when he was just 5 months old!  I’ll be honest, I got my body in shape quick, but at the expense of my own sanity and probably my family’s too!  I thought doing a fitness competition would help me focus more on weight training, but it only made me more exercise and food obsessed!  I don’t regret doing it, even though I can’t imagine ever doing it again, because it was a HUGE eye-opener for me. . . I knew I needed to find a HEALTHY BALANCE and stop putting so much emphasis on myself and on exercise!  I had 2 kids to take care of, a business to run and I needed to have a life and more energy!

After the competition, I was ready to change!  I wanted to have more energy and wanted to do more than just workout!  I was exhausted from thinking about food and exercise all the time and I knew I had to find a better way!

It’s crazy because I knew all the science about over-exercising/training, but I ignored because I was scared!  I finally got the nerve to start trusting myself and the science I knew to be true! I started studying all the research on exercise and hormones, and FINALLY got the courage to change the way I trained!

Between 2013-2015 I had drastically cut back on exercise!  I went from 7 days a week (many of those 2+ hours) to anywhere between 3-5 days a week of 20-60 minutes.  My workouts were under an hour and I kept them simple, and focused on lifting heavy and doing sprints!

In 2015 I had my 3rd baby, and I didn’t get my “pre-baby” body back. . . instead, I have an even better body!  Seriously. . . I’m happier now with my physique after 3 c-sections than I was when I was doing hours of exercise!  I focused on simple dumbbell-based workouts that I could do from home in less than an hour!

My body is stronger and firmer than it’s ever been!  I have more energy and feel the healthiest I ever have in my life!  I continue to do short, intense workouts and couldn’t even tell you the last time I did a long run or any cardio for that matter!  I’ve truly had a transformation of my body and my mind!

I put all my workouts together in my new #DumbbellDefined program!  If you want to change your physique with just a set of dumbbells in less than a hour a day, get the program details HERE!

If you are like I was, and feel STUCK because you’re over-exercising, learn from my mistakes! This program is amazing and will help you not only change your body, but also develop a healthy relationship with exercise!  ENROLLMENT IS CURRENTLY CLOSED, BUT YOU CAN GET ON THE WAITLIST FOR THE NEXT RELEASE HERE!
